Prof Johal provided an excellent insight into areas of his expertise. He actively engaged with the audience to ensure everyone understood the fundamental elements of the course. The material was described in a clear and concise manner, making difficult topics far easier to grasp. He was approachable and generous with his time, going beyond by spending ample time clarifying difficult concepts at the end of the course.

Throughout my training Professor Johal’s teaching both academically and clinically has been a large influence on my practice. His ability to tailor the teaching style and complexity level to your exact and evolving level of knowledge is especially relevant to orthodontics where there is a steep learning curve. This helps you as a student to feel simultaneously supported and stretched and his approachable and engaging manner of teaching makes topics memorable and relevant to daily practice. Professor Johal’s vast experience and involvement with academic research means he can advise and teach on academic topics and engage with students with varying levels of understanding and ability from undergraduate to postgraduate level and I have found his encouragement with this especially helpful.
